Leeds Waterfront Festival - Army Vehicles

Close to the dragon boat racing at Clarence Dock there was a small collection of army vehicles and guns. One of which was the Austin K2 Ambulance. It was the most common British ambulance used by all services in the Second World War.

It could hold four people on stretchers or ten people sitting.
Over 1300 were originally built, of which only 34 remain worldwide and only 12 on the road.
This very ambulance was driven by the late actor Sir John Mills.
The markings on the front of the ambulance represent the 30th Corps.
